17 Subway Lines Slated for Service Changes This Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — The mild weather will last through the weekend — and you'll probably appreciate it if you walk or bike to make up for the 17 subway lines slated for service changes between Friday night and early Monday morning.

This weekend's MTA work includes the ongoing post-Sandy repairs on the G line between Brooklyn and Queens and maintenance work on signals between Grand Central and Union Square.

Here is the breakdown per line:

1 Line: Downtown trains will run express from 72nd Street to Times Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

2 Line: There will be no service at 241st Street in both directions from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26. Riders can take free shuttle busses between 238th and 241st streets during the morning and evening rush and during the overnight hours when the Bx39 does not run.

Downtown trains will also run express from 72nd Street to Times Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Saturday and from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

3 Line: Service will be extended to and from Penn Station-34th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Saturday and from 11:45 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

4 Line: Downtown and uptown trains will run local between Grand Central and Brooklyn Bridge from 12:01 Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Uptown trains will also run local from Grand Central to 125th Street from 12:01 Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

5 Line: Trains will run every 20 minutes between Dyre Avenue and Bowling Green from 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Uptown and downtown trains will also run local between Grand Central and Brooklyn Bridge during those times.

Uptown trains will run local from Grand Central to 125th Street on Saturday only.

6 Line: Trains will run in two sections: between Pelham Bay Park and 125th Street, and 125th Street and Brooklyn Bridge from 12:01 Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

Manhattan-bound trains will also run express from Hunts Point Avenue to 3rd Avenue-138th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

7 Line: Flushing-bound trains will run express from Queensboro Plaza to 74th Street-Roosevelt Avenue from 5:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

A Line: Downtown trains run express from 125th Street to 59th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Saturday and from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

C Line: Downtown trains will run express from 125th Street to 59th Street from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.

D Line: Coney Island-bound trains will skip Dekalb Avenue and run express from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center to 36th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Saturday and from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

F Line: Coney Island-bound trains will be rerouted over the M line after 36th street in Queens to 47th-50th Streets in Manhattan from 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Jamaica-bound trains will also run express from West 4th Street to 34th Street-Herald Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

M Line: Service will be suspended from 3:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Riders can take the J train, which will be making all M stops between Myrtle Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue.

G line: There will be no service between Court Square and Nassau Avenue from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Free shuttle buses will operate on Manhattan Avenue between Nassau Avenue and Court Square. Shuttle buses will also run on McGuinness Boulevard between the Lorimer Street  L stop and Court Square.

J line: There will no service between Broadway Junction and Myrtle Avenue from 3:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Trains will operate in two sections: between Jamaica Center and Broadway Junction and between Chambers Street and Myrtle Avenue and then running over the M line to and from Metropolitan Avenue.

L trains will provide connecting service between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenue and Broadway Junction. Free shuttle busses will run via the J line between Broadway Junction and Myrtle Avenue, making stops at Chauncey Street, Halsey Street, Gates Avenue and Kosciusko Street.

N Line: Coney Island-bound trains will skip DeKalb Avenue and run express from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center to 36th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Saturday and from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

Q Line: Manhattan-bound trains will run express from Sheepshead Bay to Newkirk Plaza from 10:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

R Line: Bay Ridge-bound trains will skip DeKalb Avenue and run express from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center to 36th Street from 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
