CARROLL GARDENS —Art and yoga will come together in a new workshop for children in Brooklyn.

Art from the Heart,” a six-week session for children ages 5 to 12, leads children through breathing and stretching exercises while honing their artistic skills.

Kids will create weekly projects like self-portraits with mirrors, handmade books and 3-D puppets.

“I’m always blown away with what kids can create with their imagination,” said Sylvia Herbold, 27, an art teacher who will lead the workshop.

The hour-long classes, starting Sept. 18 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., will begin with a simple yoga practice before turning to art, helping them stay “centered,” and even allowing them to focus more on their work, Herbold said.

“Creating art is very physical and also very visceral,” said Herbold, who is teaching the integrated workshop for the first time. “It’s a perfect match.”

The workshop will be held at Prema Yoga Brooklyn, located at 236 Carroll St., and costs $132 for the six-week session or $25 to drop in for a single class. For more information, email info@premayogabrooklyn.com.
