“Sharknado” is circling Union Square.

The made-for-TV movie that became a Twitter sensation after its July 11 premiere on Syfy, is getting a one-night run on the big screen Aug. 2, with a midnight screening at the Regal Union Square Stadium 14.

The 14th Street movie house is one of about 200 cinemas nationwide expected to participate in the Friday night run of the story of a freak “ecological nightmare” that sends chomping sharks spinning out of a violent cyclone.

The sizeable social media buzz generated by the film — nearly 400,000 mentions, according to producers — didn’t translate into big ratings for the film’s premiere. Still, producers have already announced plans for a sequel, which will be set in New York.

Tickets are available at the theater or online at www.FathomEvents.com.
