FLATIRON — Now you can find something else to do with your mouth at the Museum of Sex.
The racy Flatiron museum is quietly opening a restaurant and bar next door to its space, officials revealed Wednesday.
The museum confirmed that it is opening a restaurant at 1 E. 27th St. in the near future, but declined to share any more details.
“We want it to be a surprise,” said a man who said he owns the building and works with the museum, but declined to reveal his name. “It’s going to be eclectic and artful.”
The museum already has a bar called Oral Fix on its lower level and will be opening a second space next door on 27th Street, beside the Gershwin Hotel, said Brendan Spiro, a spokesman for the museum.
“The new space is not affiliated with the existing bar,” Spiro said in an email.
A sneak peek of the space revealed a bar at the front, separated from a seating area by a glass wall. The storefront was covered with brown paper Wednesday afternoon, with a sign reading “Play Here Soon.”
The museum has not yet applied for a liquor license at the new location, according to Community Board 5.
The Museum of Sex is located at 233 Fifth Ave. and shows a variety of exhibitions dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of human sexuality, according to its website.
