MIDTOWN — A new 22-story hotel will rise soon on East 47th Street in Midtown.

Demolition has already begun on the four-story buildings that stood at 145-147 E. 47th St., which housed shops including The World of Golf.

Workers will take about three more weeks to clear away the previous buildings, so construction of the hotel can begin, said Frank Roma, owner of the Pinnacle Demolition & Environmental Services Corp.

The future 93-room hotel, between Lexington and Third avenues, is slated to rise near two other hotels on East 48th Street, as first reported by Curbed.

Some residents were angered by the upcoming construction and the height of the structure.

"I'm not looking forward to it," said Mary Ellen Lapsansky, a 15th-floor resident of the adjacent eight-story residential building. "Construction takes a long time but more than that, it's going to obstruct my view."

The architectural firm behind the pending construction, C3D, declined to comment on the plan but posted two renderings of the narrow glass tower on its website.

It was not immediately clear how long the construction would take, but the Department of Buildings has already granted a construction permit to the property owner, 145 East 47th Street LLC.

The company’s owner, Slavko Bernic, could not immediately be reached for comment.
