BUSHWICK — After Brooklyn's restaurant week failed to feature a single Bushwick business, the neighborhood's budding culinary community is insisting it's not on the fringes of the borough's eating options — in fact, it can draw diners citywide.

The inaugural Bushwick Restaurant Week — in which more than 30 eateries and bars will offer discounts and specialty dishes from June 17 to 22 — is also serving up free cab rides of up to $30. The complimentary lift is good to or from participating establishments, in a partnership with the free taxi-tracking app Uber. Diners just type in the promo code "Bushwick" when they use the app and get $30 off their ride, organizers said.

"You can take a cab from your home to one of the restaurants...or you can finish your meal and then have a ride anywhere in the city," organizer Bob Murray said.

The offer is good for one trip during Bushwick Restaurant Week and particiapnts must use UBERx, SUVs or Black cars.  The promotion does not include yellow taxis, organizers said.

The restaurant week, which local entrepreneurs Murray and Nick Gilbert started amid frustration that their neighborhood had been "snubbed" by Dine in Brooklyn, is a chance for each café and watering hole to play to its strengths, Murray said, noting that each business has its own unique offering throughout the festival.

"At Evergreen Ice Creamery you can get a $5 bottomless cup of ice cream daily, all week," Murray said of Bushwick's only ice cream shop's tempting deal. "You can take your cup back anytime throughout the day and get more."

Meanwhile, restaurants including Brooklyn Fireproof, Mama Joy's and Shinobi Ramen are planning specialty dishes and 15-percent discounts. Other participating eateries include 983 Bushwick's Living Room, Northeast Kingdom, Heavy Woods and Bodega Wine Bar.

At the bar Pine Box Rock Shop, revelers can sip their third beer free while Cain's Tavern patrons get their third cocktail on the house — and those examples are just a taste of what the festival will reveal later this week on its website, Murray said.

Diners who sign up on Bushwick Restaurant Week's Facebook page will automatically enter a raffle for a $200 gift certificate to Henry's Wine Shop, Murray noted.

"I feel really optimistic this will showcase all Bushwick has to offer in the culinary arena," he said.
