NEW YORK CITY — Service along the 1 train resumed in time for Thursday morning's rush-hour commute after crews repaired tracks damaged during a derailment, the MTA said.
Crews "worked through the night" to mend approximately 200 ft. of damaged tracks, third rail lines and protection boards after a wheel on the front car of a southbound 1 derailed about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday as it passed through the 125th Street Station, an MTA spokeswoman said.
None of the nearly 400 straphangers aboard were injured and the cause of the derailment was still under investigation Thursday morning, the spokeswoman added.
Service on the 1 train had been temporarily suspended over a large swath of Manhattan, but it resumed after about 12 hours of repair work.
