UNION SQUARE — A young woman was found dead in Union Square Park Thursday morning, authorities said.
The 23-year-old, who acquaintances said was homeless, was discovered under a tree near 14th Street and Union Square East, police and park security officers said.
Police said they did not suspect any criminality in the death of the woman, who was not immediately identified.
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
Several other homeless people said the victim had lived in the park for about a year and always had her dog with her.
"She was part of the park," said Henry, who lives in the park and gave only his first name.
Billy, another homeless man, added, "She only minded her own business. She was a good person [who] never got into trouble."
