NEW YORK CITY — Trench coats and rain boots were out in full force Wednesday as major downpours hit the city.
A flash-flood warning was in effect throughout the boroughs until 9:15 a.m., as rainfall reached up to 3 inches across some parts of south Brooklyn, according to the National Weather Service.
The soggy conditions caused transit delays across the boroughs.
Southbound C trains were running express from Hoyt Street to Broadway Junction because of a water condition at Utica Avenue, and flooding at Newkirk Plaza forced north-bound B trains onto the local tracks from Kings Highway to Prospect Park, according to the MTA. Service was back to normal later Wednesday.
A section of the Fifth Avenue Apple Store was closed off Wednesday morning when rain leaked from the ceiling onto the main showroom floor.
Scattered showers and possible thunderstorms were expected to continue Wednesday night into Thursday morning, according to the service.
