Smith-9th Street Subway Station Reopens April 26

CARROLL GARDENS — The Smith-9th Streets F/G subway station will reopen April 26 at 10:30 a.m., according to an MTA spokesman.

The station, which lies on the border of Carroll Gardens and Red Hook, has been under construction since 2011.

Last month, an MTA official annouced the station would reopen in April, at a CB6 transportation committee meeting.

A vital stop for both neighbohood's commuters, the station was scheduled to open late last year but the date was pushed to April 2013, according to a report by the MTA's Capital Oversight Committee.

Delays in the station's opening were caused by Hurricane Sandy, according to an MTA official at the meeting, but the report added that the contractor's "poor management" of the renovation contributed to the delay.
