Demolition Underway at Madison Avenue Development

By Alan Neuhauser | March 21, 2013 12:59pm

MIDTOWN — Work crews are tearing through the walls and floors of a series of apartment buildings and ground-floor shops on Madison Avenue — all to clear the way for a single residential and retail development.

"I can tell you it will be a residential building," John LaGratta, a director at property owner J.D. Carlisle Development, told DNAinfo.com New York.

He declined to elaborate, stating that "plans aren't finalized."

Demolition is slated to be complete by June, he said.

J.D. Carlisle Development bought five adjacent parcels for the development, according to The Real Deal, from 158 to 166 Madison Ave., between East 32nd and East 33rd streets.

Construction is expected to take about two years, the publication reported.
