NEW YORK — Service was restored on the R and D subway lines by rush hour Tuesday after a small track fire knocked out Brooklyn service.
After a small track fire north of 25th street and Fourth Avenue about 3:00 pm, southbound R train service had to be halted at Jay Street and southbound D service ended at Atlantic Avenue, said Kevin Ortiz, an MTA spokesman.
The fire was extinguished and all service returned to normal at about 3:44 pm, he said.
Full service was resumed on the track by 3:40 p.m., officials said.
