Crew Decorates Doyers Street Ahead of 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' Filming

CHINATOWN — The film crew for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" filled Chinatown Friday ahead of the nighttime filming scheduled at the well-known Nom Wah Tea Parlor.

Film workers rolled in additional seating and affixed neon signs to Nom Wah, 13 Doyers St., as they prepared the restaurant Friday afternoon for its role in the flick.

Lanerns and extra banners with Chinese characters were strung up over Doyers Street, as were huge lights to illuminate the street during the filming, which was scheduled to start at 10 p.m.

The movie sequel, based on the Marvel comic book character and directed by Marc Webb, will star Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and Jamie Foxx and is due to be released in April of 2014.

This isn't Nom Wah Tea Parlor's first starring role in a film. Scenes from movies such as "Reversal of Fortune," "Premium Rush," "All Good Things, Quid Pro Quo" and "Third Rock," along with TV shows such as  "Law and Order" and "Smash," have also enlisted the restaurant as a set.
