EAST FLATBUSH — A 22-year-old man was shot dead outside his Brooklyn home Monday evening, and a woman was hurt in the gunfire as well, police said.

Kellan John was shot in the head about 6 p.m. in front of his home at 61 E. 42nd St., on a quiet residential block near Lenox Road, police and witnesses said.

John was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A 27-year-old woman also suffered a gunshot wound to the left leg, police said. She was taken to Kings County Hospital, just a couple blocks away, and was in stable condition.

A woman who lives on the block said she heard four gunshots and then raced down to the street to see a crowd already forming.

"I heard a lady yell, 'They shot my son, they shot my son,'" said the 29-year-old woman, who did not give her name.

The investigation was ongoing, and police had not made any arrests as of Monday night.
