Accused NYPD 'Cannibal Cop' Indicted in Plot to Cook and Eat Women

By Julie Shapiro | November 16, 2012 7:31pm

NEW YORK — The NYPD cop accused of plotting to cook and eat women was indicted in Manhattan Federal Court on Friday, according to reports.

Gilberto Valle, 28, of Forest Hills, was indicted on charges of conspiracy to kidnap and illegally accessing a federal crime database without permission, according to reports.

If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Valle, a six-year member of NYPD who was assigned to Morningside Heights' 26th Precinct, is accused of compiling a list of 100 women he knew, along with photographs and personal information, and staking out their homes and businesses.

He then used state and federal law enforcement databases to track down more details about his potential targets, the FBI found in an investigation.

Investigators uncovered graphic emails and instant messages in which Valle described his plan to kidnap, rape, cook and eat women.  [Click here to read the shocking complaint.]

Valle did not act on his plans, and his lawyer has described the detailed plot as "just fantasy."

But federal prosecutors said Valle was on the verge of harming the women on his list when he was arrested in October.

Valle will be arraigned on the indictment in federal court on Monday, according to reports.
