MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — The nanny who allegedly stabbed two small children to death before slashing her own throat was indicted on murder charges Tuesday, as she remains in New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center.

A grand jury voted to indict nanny Yoselyn Ortega, 50, on two counts each of murder in the first and second degrees. Ortega has been held in the hospital since the horrific Oct. 25th stabbing that left 2-year-old Leo Krim and 6-year-old Lucia Krim, known as Lulu, dead in the bathtub of the family's West 75th Street apartment.

Ortega also slashed her own throat.

The children's mother, Marina Krim, discovered the devastating crime when she returned home at 5:30 p.m. with her third child, 3-year-old Nessie.

Ortega, who has been hospitalized and under police guard in the hospital since the incident, was arraigned at her bedside last week after officers were finally able to interview her about the crimes.

Detectives were initially unable to question Ortega because she remained in a catatonic state after being put in a medically-induced coma, sources said.

Ortega's Supreme Court arraingment could happen as early as Wednesday, according to a law enforcement source.

Sources say Marina Krim is "devastated" by the loss of her two children. Ortega had worked for the Krims for two and a half years, and the Krims had even visited Ortega's family in the Dominican Republic, according to an online diary Marina Krim kept.

Ortega faces life without parole if convicted.
