'Ivanov' Opens in the East Village After Power Outage

By Lisa Marsh | November 6, 2012 9:40am

EAST VILLAGE — The show must go on.

Chekov's "Ivanov," starring Ethan Hawke and Joely Richardson, stuck with its originally scheduled opening night and premiered Sunday night at the Classic Stage Company in the East Village, only days after power restored to the area.

A bevvy of blondes — including Lily Rabe, Natasha Lyonne, Taylor Schilling and AnnaSophia Robb — turned up for the show's opening night, which was initially supposed to have been postponed from Sunday until later in the month because of all of the damage brought on by Hurricane Sandy.

But once power was restored throughout the neighborhood Friday, the show's previews at the East 13th Street theater near Third Avenue resumed Saturday, with opening night back on.

The play has a limited run through December 9.
