FOREST HILLS — Hurricane Sandy spared Forest Hills a direct hit Monday night, as locals awoke Tuesday to find mostly felled trees.

Users took to Twitter to post photos of the damage caused by storm, sharing images of uprooted trees and counting their blessings.

"A few downed tree branches in #foresthills that we can see but otherwise ok following #sandy. #verythankful," tweeted resident Danielle Chalson Tuesday morning.

Con Edison's power outage map lists more than 60 customers without power in Forest Hills and neighboring Rego Park.

At least three outages were due to downed power lines, according to the utility.

The blog Edge of the City has a gallery of storm damage, which shows a felled tree on 67th Road and a downed building awning on 72nd Road. Commenters said the damage from the hurricane was less than the tornado that touched down in the area in 2010.

One commenter described the scene in Forest Hills Gardens near the West Side Tennis Club, saying: "while there's a couple of branches down, absolutely nothing compared to the five minute tornado that wreaked havoc with our town two years ago. Grateful for that."
