CBS Cop Drama Films Gunpoint Abduction in Red Hook

By Alan Neuhauser | October 24, 2012 9:26am

RED HOOK — A slick-haired gunman took a woman hostage outside U.S. Fried Chicken & Pizza in Red Hook Monday morning, then fled cops in a silver Toyota pickup truck — all part of a scene being shot for CBS's upcoming cop drama "Golden Boy."

Guns drawn, three cops, wearing bullet-proof vests over button-down shirts and ties, sprinted around a corner toward U.S. Fried Chicken as the gunman burst through the shop's front door with his arm wrapped around a woman's neck. The crook then shoved the woman into the pickup, slid behind the wheel and drove to the edge of the parking lot — stopping when director Richard Shepard yelled "Cut!"

The scene comprised part of episode nine, said a crew member, who declined to give her name because she was not authorized to speak to the press.

The show tells the tale of newly-crowned NYPD Commissioner Walter William Clark Jr. (Theo James), who rises from beat cop to the department's top spot in just seven years. The show is structured as a series of flashbacks or reminiscences, featuring Clark as he solves crimes and navigates NYPD inner-politics.

The series is slated to air this winter for the 2012-13 TV season.
