Lindsay Lohan's Alleged Hit-and-Run Caught on Tape

By Ben Fractenberg | September 20, 2012 4:25pm | Updated on September 21, 2012 9:12am

MEATPACKING DISTRICT — A grainy surveillance video released by police Thursday shows the incident in which Lindsay Lohan allegedly hit a man with her Porsche SUV and then drove off — an account that has now been called into question.

The video shows the SUV driving down a narrow alley between the Maritime and Dream hotels while a crowd of people, including the alleged victim Jose Rodriguez, 34, are milling around on the sidewalk. The vehicle then turns left driving very closely past the crowd.

Rodriguez is identified in the video as a man walking in front of the car while it turns, police said. He then appears to stand next to the car as it passes him, but does not appear to the ground. After the car drives through the crowd he is seen walking after the vehicle.

Police arrested Lohan about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday about an hour after the incident happened and charged her with a hit-and-run accident involving an injury.

Rodriguez claims he confronted the starlet and that she "smelled like alcohol real bad" and was "slurring" her speech.

She was given a desk appearance and released.

Police said they did not believe there was drinking or drugs involved and are now questioning Rodriguez's account of the event after viewing the video.

Lohan spokesman Steve Hong on Wednesday described the incident as "much ado about nothing."

“We are confident this matter will be cleared up in the coming weeks and the claims being made against Lindsay will be proven untrue.”
