Lindsay Lohan Arrested for Hit-and-Run Outside Meatpacking District Hotel

MANHATTAN — Lindsay Lohan was arrested early Wednesday after she allegedly hit a restaurant worker with a Porsche and then left the accident scene.

The starlet was arrested at 2:30 a.m. outside the Dream Downtown hotel, in the Meatpacking District, and charged with a hit-and-run accident involving injury, police said.

Police said Jose Rodriguez, 34, was struck as the actress was driving a black 2010 Porsche Cayenne SUV in an alley between the hotel and the Maritime Hotel on West 16th Street and Ninth Avenue.

Lohan, who was with two men, was trying to pass a group of people standing in the alley waiting to get into the hotel.

Rodriguez, who lives in New Jersey and works at the Maritime Hotel's La Bottega restaurant, was helped by co-workers after the alleged incident, said the head of security at the hotel. He complained of a knee injury and was taken to Bellevue Hospital, police said.

Police sources said Lohan parked the car near the accident scene and went into the Dream Downtown. She was arrested about an hour later when she left the hotel.

Police said there was no drinking or drugs involved and they do not suspect any criminality beyond leaving leaving an accident scene.

After the arrest, Lohan was taken to the 10th Precinct in Chelsea and issued a desk appearance ticket.

The alleged hit-and-run is the "Mean Girls" actress' latest run-in with the law.

Lohan's legal troubles include a 2007 driving under the influence conviction, a probation violation and a conviction for stealing jewelry.

Just days before Wednesday's alleged hit-and-run, Lohan tweeted about the DUI arrest of another actress, Amanda Bynes. Her message voiced incredulity that her fellow former child star did not get similar punishment to what Lohan had received,  according to TMZ.

Even Cedric the Entertainer, who was walking into the Dream Hotel Wednesday afternoon, chimed in. When asked whether he'd rather hop in a car with Lohan or Bynes, the "Original Kings of Comedy" star said he'd feel more comfortable riding with Lohan.

"Lindsay, she's a professional drink and driver," he joked.
