RED HOOK — A pair of Red Hook-based nonprofits are holding separate fundraisers next month featuring gourmet food, cocktails and music.

Friends of Firefighters hosts its fifth-annual fall fundraiser Tuesday, Oct. 16, taking place from 7 to 11 p.m. in the former firehouse at 199 Van Brunt St. that now serves as the organization's headquarters.

The event includes appearances by New York Jets and Giants players, plus dinner cooked by FDNY members, a beer and wine selection, a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, gift bags, a performance by the FDNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, a live band, and Z100's Trey Morgan as master of ceremonies.

The names of the football players attending the event will be announced in the weeks leading up to the fundraiser, organizers said.

Awards will be presented to retired FDNY members, as well as local volunteers, politicians, and Sean Belnick, the 25-year-old Internet wunderkind who made a surprise $65,000 donation to Friends of Firefighters last year on ABC's "Secret Millionaire."

Tickets cost $75 per person. To RSVP or learn more, visit the Friends of Firefighters website.

On Sunday, Oct. 23, more than 30 Brooklyn restaurants, brewers, distillers and bakers will be serving their best at "A Taste of Red Hook," a celebration of the Red Hook Initiative's 10-year anniversary.

The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Intercourse, a new gallery at 159 Pioneer St., and it includes a silent auction for spa treatments, designer accessories, theater tickets and more.

Tickets are being sold for $100 to $500 per person, with attendees asked to "support us at the highest level." Buy tickets and find more info on the Red Hook Initiative website
