MIDTOWN — They danced their pants off.

Amateur dancers of all ages shook their money makers for cltohing and underwear company Fruit of the Loom for a chance to be featured in their upcoming advertisement campaign.

Hopeful performers were given 45 seconds to perform on the stage in front of a Grand Central Station taxi stand, one of five open audition spots to be held in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas between August 20 and October 1.

Alyssa Maksym, 24, a dancer for the Metropolitan Opera, performed a contemporary dance routine during her audition. She said competitions like these are good exposure for artists trying to make it in the city.

"It's all about networking with other dancers," she said. "And it's fun."

The Naked Cowboy, known for his underwear-baring performances in Times Square, seranaded crowds on the street, baring his Fruit of the Loom underwear for all to see.

Legacy, a finalist on the reality television show "So You Think You Can Dance?" and current spokesman for the brand, judged the dance performances and said he believed this event would encourage people to see dance as an art form.

"It helps people get inspired to start dancing or to continue doing what they love," said Legacy, who specializes in street and modern contemporary dance.

Those who were unable to attend and are interested in auditioning can send video entries online at Facebook.com/FruitoftheLoom.
