MANHATTAN — The gold medal-winning U.S. Women's Gymnastics team took a whirlwind tour of the Big Apple Tuesday, ringing the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange and lighting up the Empire State Building after returning from their victorious Olympics run in London.
Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, Jordyn Wieber and Kyla Ross — also known as the "Fierce Five" — rang the bell to end trading for the day at the Wall Street stock exchange before flipping the switch at the Midtown skyscraper.
Douglas won individual gold in the all-around competition, while Raisman took the top spot in the floor exercise and a bronze medal on the balace beam. Maroney won a silver medal for the vault, leading to her trademark scowl during the presentation ceremony.
