VIRGINIA — Seven people were hurt when a tractor-trailer hit a New York-bound tour bus in Virginia early Tuesday morning, according to reports.

The bus was traveling north on I-81 in Rockingham County with 40 passengers when a tractor-trailer slammed into it just after 4 a.m. Tuesday, the Virginia State Police said in a press release.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Dean J. Crawford, 29, was charged with reckless driving, the Virginia State Police said. He suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Five passengers of the bus — four men and one woman — were taken to a local hospital and released by Tuesday afternoon, according to reports. The bus driver, Quan Guan Pan of Elmhurst, Queens, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The bus, owned by New York Sky Express, was traveling from Tennessee to New York City, Virginia State Police said.
