MANHATTAN — West Village residents soon won't have far to go for stacks of pancakes from IHOP

The restaurant signed a 49-year lease last week for 80 Carmine St., the broker who represented the franchisee said Friday.

Trihop, which owns IHOP franchise rights in the Tri-State area, signed for the triangular property bordered by Carmine and Downing streets and Seventh Avenue South on May 21, Kevin Salmon of Salmon & Marshall Real Estate Investments said.

The new pancake house — which will join locations in the East Village and Harlem — is slated to open in November and have 10,000 square feet, with a first floor, basement and enclosed patio, The Real Deal first reported.

Salmon said he expected the location to cater to early birds and night owls alike.

"I think it works because Varick is a nightclub street," he said. "It will work for IHOP's night business and for neighborhood residents for breakfast, too."

IHOP's East Village location, which has a nightclub-style bouncer and has fielded neighborhood complaints about the strong smell of bacon outside, is open 24 hours a day.

Trihop did not immediately respond to an inquiry about the expected hours of the West Village location.

IHOP plans to open more than 25 new locations in the Tri-State area, Trihop owner Ben Ashkenazy told The Real Deal last October.
