Warm Weather Brings Out Cool Clothing

By Patrick Michael Hughes | May 25, 2012 6:58am

MANHATTAN — Manhattanites are choosing cool colors to fend off the late spring heat.

On the streets during recent warm weekends, Street Chic saw a concentration of standout cool-color fashions. From muted taupe to aqua blue, yellow-gold and icy lemon, the tones were distinctively cold. But the strongest trend was for ivory tones in a variety of textures and finishes.

This subtle palate has been building momentum for the past few seasons and was also recently featured in Chanel's pre-summer 2013 collection, designed by Karl Lagerfeld and presented in the gardens of Versailles, France, in May.

The fashions seen around town were mostly very feminine dresses, ranging from weightless knits to effortless tulle and structured polished cotton. Classic and hip sportswear looks were strong, with white denim jeans, camel cashmere knits, graphic T-shirts and skater skirts all seen on the streets.
