New Michel Gondry Film Depicts Bronx High Schoolers

French director Michel Gondry has released a new trailer about his film depicting the ups and downs of a group of Bronx teens learning to make their way in the world.

According to the film's official synopsis, "'The We and the I' is the heartfelt and comical story of the final bus ride home for a group of young high school students and graduates. As kids depart the bus for the last time, we get to learn about these graduates as they step into the world – their love, their conflicts, their despair and their hope."

But there could be a twist: The director told Indiewire's Playlist blog that the kids "travel into the future by mistake and discover a machine that keeps people younger." It is unclear from the trailer whether or not this description is accurate.

Gondry's followup to "the Green Hornet" is set to premier at the Cannes Film Festival's Director's Fortnight on May 17.
