BROOKLYN — An off-duty NYPD school safety agent was arrested for allegedly hitting her son in the head with a bottle of cologne in Williamsburg late Tuesday night, police said.

Tanya Edwards, 43, was charged with assault after being arrested at her home at about 11:15 p.m., police said.

Edwards' son was treated and released with swelling of the head, cops added. His identity has not been released, but police said he is not a minor.

Edwards works in East New York, but it was not immediately clear what school or schools she is employed at.

A Department of Education spokeswoman referred all questions to the NYPD, noting that school safety agents are NYPD staff.

School safety agents are typically assigned either to one specific school, or rove between several different schools, police said.
