BROOKLYN — A woman driving a mobility scooter was struck and killed while trying to cross a busy intersection in Crown Heights early Wednesday, authorities said.

The 56-year-old victim was crossing Eastern Parkway north to south at Utica Avenue when a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria traveling eastbound on the parkway struck her, police said.

She was taken to Kings County Hospital with severe body trauma and pronounced dead, police said.

The driver, a 65-year-old man, stayed at the scene and was not arrested.

An investigation is ongoing, police noted. The victim's identification is being withheld by police pending family notification.
