MANHATTAN — The Barbizon Hotel was once home to white-glove-wearing single ladies such as Grace Kelly, Gene Tierney and other aspiring actresses and models looking to make it big in New York.
Soon it will be overrun with even more sweaty women in Lululemon tank tops as SoulCycle, the spin studio with a cult following, expects to move into the 23-story former hotel at 140 E. 63rd St., which already hosts an Equinox gym.
"We are just in the beginning stages," a SoulCycle spokeswoman said. "We'll have 63 bikes on 63rd Street in early fall."
SoulCycle has four Manhattan locations — all of which have waitlists for their classes and attract lycra-clad exercise bike fanatics from across the city. It is also expanding its space at 1470 Third Ave., between East 83rd and 84th streets. That expansion, expected to be ready in June, will transform a 1,480-square-foot space with one 42-bike studio into 3,425 square feet with two new studios, one with 70 bikes and the other with 30.
