MANHATTAN — Bronx-born Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will deliver NYU's commencement speech at Yankee Stadium this spring, the college announced Thursday.
The court's first Hispanic justice, who took office in August 2009, will receive an honorary law doctorate at the May 16 ceremony, according to a statement from New York University.
NYU will also grant honorary degrees to New York Times columnist David Brooks, French Roman Catholic priest Patrick Desbois and Swiss microbiologist Charles Weissmann, according to the school.
President Bill Clinton delivered the speech at last year's graduation ceremony on economic inequality and environmental conservation.
Actor Alec Baldwin gave the May 2010 speech on choosing a career path that helps society.
