MANHATTAN — The New York Jets have their eyes on Peyton Manning.

The superstar quarterback — who is now free to sign with any NFL team he chooses after coming off an impressive run with the Indianapolis Colts — got a call from the Jets Wednesday afternoon, shortly after he officially became a free agent, according to reports.

Team managers aren’t commenting, but Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson said on the NFL Network last night that Manning would make a strong addition to the team.

"I do know one thing: This is a good fit for him," Tomlinson said, according to the New York Post.

"The Jets already have a very good offensive line, a good receiving corps — obviously headed by Santonio Holmes, Dustin Keller at tight end. This is a team that, offensively, they run the ball really well. This is a team that if they get Peyton Manning, that division, it could be scary."

Top teams from all over the country are also trying to sign Manning, including the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers, according to USA Today.
