
JAMAICA — A man leaped from a Van Wyck Expressway overpass during rush hour Monday, but survived the fall without being hit by a car, authorities said.
According to cops, the man jumped from the Atlantic Avenue overpass onto the southbound lanes of the highway about 5:50 p.m., police said.
He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition. Sources said that his injuries were sustained in the fall and not being hit by a car.
It was not immediately clear why he jumped.
There were no initial reports of any drivers being injured.
