BROOKLYN — Police have arrested a Brooklyn man on charges he stabbed his mother to death Monday in her Prospect Heights apartment.
Andrew Bell, 28, of Bedford-Stuyvesant, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, NYPD officials said.
Bell's mother, identified by neighbors and sources as Colleen Mosley, 43, was found at 487 St. Marks Ave. with stab wounds to her body and head about 11:05 a.m. on Monday, police said.
"She was a sweetheart," Mosley's friend, Frieda Luckett, 48, said. "If you needed a couple of dollars and she had it, she'd give it."
Vanetta Washington, 46, was Mosley's neighbor in the building, which was a supportive housing complex run by the Institute for Community Living.
"She was nice, no matter what," Washington said.
Washington said Bell "would just come and go" from Mosley's apartment, but "he's never been violent toward her." She said the two had been watching the Super Bowl together the night before the slaying.
