A natural gas leak on the New Jersey side of the Holland Tunnel shut down outbound service for about an hour this morning, Jersey City fire officials said.

The gas leak occurred about 9:53 a.m. after a construction crew working nearby at 182-184 14th St. in Jersey City struck a pipe, officials said.

An energy service company arrived on the scene about 10:20 a.m. and was quickly able to stop the leak, officials said.

Service resumed shortly after, but left heavy delays.
