New York Giants Tower Over Jets in Christmas Eve Win

By Sonja Sharp | December 25, 2011 12:28pm

MANHATTAN — Jets fans woke up Christmas Day feeling like they got a lump of coal in their stocking, after their team suffered a humiliating 29-14 defeat Christmas Eve by the Giants.

Despite a thrilling early season for the team, the Jets are now all but out of the running for the playoffs. To get there, the Jets will have to beat the Miami Dolphins on New Year's Day, and hope for a string of losses by strong teams across the country.

Thousands of disappointed fans took to the web Saturday to vent their rage at the team that let them down after so much early-season hype.

"My 14 y/o cousin got me a Jets pillow pet for Christmas. It's perfect for when I'm in the fetal position with a vodka bottle post game," wrote disappointed fan H on Twitter.

Facebook fans were no more pleased with the high-stakes loss, spouting extra venom at Jets' quarterback Mark Sanchez, and coach Rex Ryan

"Rex Ryan should just admit he ruined the whole season," disappointed fan Michael Morguarge wrote on the Jets Facebook page. "He should also admit that he is not the man for the job in New York."

But some still came to the team's defense. There is still a faint hope for the Super Bowl, fans are quick to point out. The Jets need only beat Miami and pray that the Raiders, the Steelers and either the Titans or the Broncos all lose.

"I'm still anticipating a Jets hoody tomorrow. I'll still wear it, despite this kick to the gut today," wrote fan John Patalano on the team's page. "Still love the Jets."
