MANHATTAN — Gotham has finally come home.

A just-released trailer for the forthcoming installment of the “Dark Knight” series features sweeping shots of Manhattan, which acts as the backdrop for the newest Batman film.

“The Dark Knight Rises” — starring Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman — filmed around the city for the final chapter of the trilogy.

Last month, producers shot scenes for the film in the Financial District as demonstrations for the Occupy Wall Street movement happened nearby.

One scene in the trailer appears to show Batman squaring off against the villain Bane, played by Tom Hardy, in a battle on Wall Street.

In October, would-be extras in the film turned out in droves for an open casting call in Chelsea.

Scenes for the movie were shot around the globe, from India and Scotland to Los Angeles and nearby Newark, N.J.

“The Dark Knight Rises” is set for release on July 20, 2012.
