TURTLE BAY — A Chase bank branch on First Avenue between East 50th and East 51st streets has been the target of two robberies in the past six weeks, police said.

The most recent attempt occurred Saturday at around 11:30 a.m., said Deputy Inspector John Hart at a meeting of the 17th precinct community council Tuesday night.

No one was injured in the incident, and the robber, who passed a note, ran off empty-handed. But Hart said it was “unusual” to have one bank targeted twice within a six-week period.

Cops have collected some surveillance footage, Hart said, but so far, there are no suspects in the case.

The details of the first robbery were not immediately clear.

The manager at the First Avenue bank branch was not available for comment on Thursday afternoon.
