MIDTOWN — Country star Faith Hill has pulled out of her planned performance at the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday night.

The Grammy-award winning country singer was on the event's schedule up until Wednesday morning, when a publicist for the event sent word that Hill would not be performing. No explanation was given for the cancellation.

Hill's official Twitter account made no mention of the change, and still included an earlier tweet that Hill would attend.

"Faith performing on Wednesday night at NBC's 79th annual Christmas tree lighting in Rockefeller Center!" the message said. "Who's tuning in to watch at 8PM?"

Hill’s publicist, Paul Freundlich, did not immediately return a call or email for comment.

Those attending the event can still expect live performances by Cee Lo Green
and Michael Buble, as well as performances by the Radio City Rockettes. The 30,000 lights on the 74-foot Norway Spruce are scheduled to be lit at 8:55 p.m. by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Tishman Speyer CEO’s Jerry and Rob Speyer.

A pre-recorded performance by Justin Bieber would play live at the ceremony, after earlier reports indicated the Canadian pop star would appear in the flesh.

The event coincides with a visit from President Barack Obama, who will be fundraising only blocks away, prompting predictions of traffic chaos throughout Midtown.
