MANHATTAN FEDERAL COURT — A major drug trafficker whose gangs who supplied narcotics from Jamaica to New York and Miami pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday.

Prosecutors said Christopher Coke, 42, led the "Shower Posse" and "Presidential Click," two notoriously violent drug trade organizations that also controlled and guarded the troubled Jamaican neighborhood of Tivoli Gardens.

"He moved drugs and guns between Jamaica and the United States with impunity," Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement.

Coke, 42, pleaded guilty to racketeering and conspiracy to commit assault charges in U.S. District Court on Wednesday. He faces up to 20 years in prison at his sentencing on Dec. 8.

Coke admitted to dealing large amounts of cocaine and marijuana and also plotting to hurt a Bronx drug trafficker his gang had done business with.

The drug lord had been extradited to New York on June 24, 2010 after being apprehended while reportedly wearing an Afro-style wig as a disguise.

Coke's arrest led to a spate of violence and acts of destruction in Tivoli Gardens, according to reports.
