MANHATTAN — Hurricane Irene is on its way, and many New Yorkers not living in evacauation zones are expected to wait out the storm with hurricane parties.

Liquor stores throughout the city were experiencing some of the rush that had grocery stores selling out of bread and water as of Saturday morning.

So DNAinfo has compiled a list of hurricane cocktails to get New Yorkers through the worst of the storm.

1. HURRICANE

How could this not be No. 1? New Orleans' famous Hurricane is chock-full of booze and sure to pack a punch while Irene pummels down outside.

How to make it:

Mix 1 1/2 ounces of light rum and 1 1/2 ounces of dark rum.  Add 1 ounce of lime juice and 1 ounce of orange juice. Add 1/4 cup of passion fruit juice and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Shake it up until the sugar is dissolved. Add 1 teaspoon of grenadine and ice shake it up again. Half fill a cup with ice and strain into a glass. Garnish with an orange.

DARK AND STORMY

It's sure to be ominious out there, so match the mood by drinking this deliciously dangerous concoction. Filled with ginger beer and rum, it's a unique storm of sugar and spice.

How to make it:

Mix 2 ounces of dark rum and 4 ounces of ginger beer. Serve over cracked ice and top with a few squeezes of fresh lime.

SEA BREEZE

Bring a bit of the storm's surge to the glass with this refreshing cocktail. Made with vodka and juice, the drink is as light and cool as an ocean spray.

How to make it:

Pour 1 1/2 ounces of vodka over a glass of ice. Mix 4 ounces of cranberry juice and one ounce of grapefruit juice. Shake until it the top has consistency of a light sea foam, and top with a cool wedge of lime.

LONG ISLAND ICED TEA

Made with four different types of alchohol, this drink will slam even the wildest partier as hard as Irene pounds Long Island. Mix up and lay back while Irene surges overhead.

How to make it: Mix 1/2 ounce of triple sec, 1/2 ounce of light rum, 1/2 ounce of gin, 1/2 ounce of vodka and 1/2 ounce of tequila in a glass over ice. Shake well. Top it off with a splash of Coke and and a lemon wedge.

BAHAMA MAMA

Take a hint from Irene with a little taste of the Bahamas. Made with coffee, coconut and plenty of other ingredients, there's no better way to channel calmer tropics than with this relaxing libation.

How to make it:

Mix 1/4 ounces of coffe liquer, 1/2 ounces of dark rum, 1/2 ounces of coconut liquer, 1/4 ounces of 151 proof rum, juice from 1/2 a lemon and 4 ounces of pineapple juice. Serve over cracked ice. 
Drink up before the ice melts!
