MANHATTAN — The chase is over.

A casino-loving armed bank robber who targeted Chase branches exclusively was nabbed in Indiana after a string of heists in New York, according to the FBI.

Sam Chatman, 54, was picked up in Terra Haute, Ind. after getting off a Greyhound bus there on Friday afternoon, the agency said. He was arrested without incident.

The day before, he allegedly targeted two banks in Manhattan - one at 225 Fifth Ave., near 27th Street in Flatiron and one at 90 W. 225th St. in Marble Hill.

The FBI said that Chatman, who was believed to have several guns and was considered extremely dangerous, passed a note saying that he was willing to shoot anybody.

Chatman, who is known to frequent casinos, was also wanted for a robbery at a Chase branch at 2438 Broadway, near W. 90th Street on June 18 and 2824 Broadway, near W. 109th St. on July 27.

The FBI was worried because the suspect's violent behavior was "continuing to escalate," Supervisory Special Agent Barbara Daly said.

"Chatman is known to carry several weapons and has no fear of using them."
