MANHATTAN — The National Weather Service issued another flash flood watch for New York City Monday after heavy rains deluged Manhattan through the weekend.
Nearly six inches fell in Central Park Sunday, the service recorded.
Monday's warning runs through 6:30 p.m.
The heavy rain is being caused by a slow moving storm system which will “usher an abundant amount of moisture into the tri-state region,” according to the weather service.
The rain is expected to break on Tuesday with a chance of showers and a high of 80 degrees, according to the NWS.
Wednesday is set to be the first sunny day this week with an expected high of 83.
The heavy rain and flooding Sunday caused power outages, train service disruptions and stranded motorists throughout the area.
John F. Kennedy International Airport reported 7.72 inches of rain by Sunday night — the most ever recorded there in a single day.
The driving rain broke the previous record of 6.3 inches, set in 1983, the National Weather Service reported.
