MANHATTAN — Mayor Bloomberg reportedly trashed Washington lawmakers for the country’s debt downgrade, defending the credit-rating agency responsible for the demotion.
Bloomberg said Standard & Poor’s “hit it on the nose” when the financial services company dropped the nation’s perfect credit rating last week.
"They have done much more to harm the economy over the past two months than they've done to help it,” the mayor said of Washington legislators, according to the Daily News.
He was talking at a press conference.
The European and Asian financial markets saw a steep decline Tuesday, a day after the Dow Jones Industrial average dropped a whopping 634 points in the wake of the credit downgrade.
