Tinariwen are said to be the first Tuareg (Saharan nomad) band to use electric guitars. Their first CD was released in 2000, following on from dozens of cassette releases since their formation in 1982. They recently played the UK's Womad Reading Festival and the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. At the Highline Ballroom, 431 W. 16th Street.

Born in Trinidad and based in Brooklyn, Theophilus London created a buzz with his his 2009 mixtape "This Charming Man." On it, he mashed up The Smiths and Elvis Costello. His debut album "Timez Are Weird These Days" is out this week, catch the launch at The Bowery Ballroom.

LA's The Glitch Mob have perfected the passage of processed beats to the concert hall since their formation five years ago. Hear their latest EP "We Can Make The World Stop" with Phantogram, Rjd2, and Com Truise in support, at Terminal 5, 610 W 56th St.
Saturday July 23: PICK OF THE WEEK
The Greenhornes make up half of Jack White's The Raconteurs and are also signed to his Third Man Records. Their latest album, "Four Stars," came out last year and at times is reminiscent of classic The Who. With The A-bones at Rocks Off Concert Cruise Series, aboard the good ship Queen of Hearts, Pier 40, West Houston St. at West Side Highway. Boards at 7:00 p.m. and departs 8:00 p.m.

Alt-rock legend and Pixies singer and songwriter Black Francis plays a solo gig with recent studio companion Reid Paley in support. Their collaborative album, "Paley & Francis," is out this September. At Le Poisson Rouge, 158 Bleecker Street.
Monday July 25
Pittsburgh's Wiz Khalifa's first album with Atlantic Records, "Rolling Papers," hit the charts in March, peaking at number 2 on the Billboard 200. Joining Wiz on the NY leg of his Rolling Papers Summer Tour is Big Sean and Chevy Woods. At Summer Stage, Central Park.

Aussie expat Sia (she sang the track "Breathe Me" from the final episode of "Six Feet Under") headlines a talented and dynamic bill of rising female stars at Webster Hall. Catch big beats from Mary Magdalan, sleek Euro disco from Oh Land and solid pop muscle from Ximena Sariñana at Webster Hall 125 E 11th St.
