MANHATTAN - The surging Yankees took down the Mets again Saturday with a 5-2 win, their second of the Subway Series.

The Bombers racked up four runs in the sixth after five scoreless innings at CitiField to take a late lead, kicked off by a Curtis Granderson homer to right center. He has 22 dingers on the season.

After that, Robinson Cano belted a triple to right, driving in Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez.

The final run of the inning came from a sacrifice fly from Nick Swisher, scoring Cano.

Derek Jeter's replacement at short, Eduardo Nunez, who went 4-for-4 in the first game of the series, belted in the final homer for the Yanks in the ninth.

Jeter, on a quest for 3,000 hits, suited up for the Trenton Thunder as he nurses a strained calf.

The Amazin's looked like they were on the verge of a rally again in the ninth, scoring two on ground outs, but it wasn't enough.

Starting pitcher Bartolo Colon, coming off the DL, struck out six in six innings.

The Mets were hobbled by the loss of Jose Reyes, who left the game because to a first-inning hamstring injury, according to MLB.com.

"Every time I have an injury to my leg, I have to be worried," Reyes said, according to the New York Post.

"My legs are a big part of my game. Hopefully it's not going to be too big."

The final game of the series is Sunday, 1:10 p.m. at CitiField.

Rain could be a factor with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected throughout the day.
