MANHATTAN — New York’s LGBT community has reason to celebrate this weekend in the wake of a historic vote to legalize same-sex marriage Friday night.
The city's annual Gay Pride Parade will be taking place this Sunday, one of a series of events slated for the weekend.
On Saturday, there is Rapture on the River, a women's dance party on Pier 54, off West 13th Street, in the Meatpacking District. The festivities kick off at 3 p.m. Saturday with comedians and happy hour before going into full dance party mode later in the evening. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door.
On Sunday, the pride parade kicks off at 36th Street and Fifth Avenue, in Midtown, at noon and finishes at Christopher and Greenwich streets, in the Village.
After the parade you can check out the PrideFest street fair, taking place on Hudson Street between Abingdon Square and West 14th Street from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
If you miss the Rapture on the River you can party on Pier 54 Sunday from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $75 in advance and $125 that day.
