MANHATTAN — Pop-country sensation Taylor Swift will make a special appearance at the Black Eyed Peas' huge free Central Park concert on June 9.
The massive "Concert 4 NYC" is a benefit for the poverty-fighting Robin Hood Foundation and will feature a host of other performers, including MC Hammer, Debbie Harry, LL Cool J, Carole King and Natasha Bedingfield. Such A-listers as Zach Braff, Whoopi Goldberg and Jimmy Smits are also scheduled to make appearances.
"Not only will [Taylor Swift] will be an amazing addition to our lineup, she is an incredible inspiration to people of all ages and her music gives a voice to those who feel left behind," Fergie, of the Black Eyed Peas, said in a statement.
Even though the Great Lawn show is free, concertgoers had to enter a lottery to get one of the 50,000 tickets, officials said. The show's 6,000 $500 VIP tickets sold out on Tuesday after the Swift announcement.
Robin Hood teamed up with the Black Eyed Peas to help fund the opening of three Peapod Academies in the city over the coming years. They will support disadvantaged youth, by providing music and artistic education, such as music engineering, mixing and video editing.
