MANHATTAN — A person under a Union Square subway train crippled service on the L line Wednesday.

Power was cut to the third rail after the person was hit by the train at 14th Street/Union Square station at 11:30 a.m.

An MTA spokesman said there was no service running between 8th Avenue and Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn.

John Clarke, an MTA conductor at the station, said he'd been told service would be affected for about two hours.

He said witnesses told him they saw a man jump in front of the train. They said he left a bag full of groceries on the platform.

No other line was affected by the incident, the MTA spokesman said.

FDNY confirmed they had responded, but were unable to give information about the condition of the casualty.
